He gets people talking—and gives them a reason to keep going.
Schizo brings conversation, humor, and the instinct to make a guest feel included. His energy helps turn an interview into the kind of exchange where one good story leads naturally to the next.
The interview
Opening the door to a conversation
Schizo opens the conversation with a direct, approachable style. He gives guests a way into their story: who they are, where they work, what they do, and how it all started. The questions do not need to sound complicated to reach something interesting. A clear question gives a first-time guest room to settle in and an experienced performer room to take the story somewhere unexpected.
The atmosphere
The laugh that makes room for another story
His goofy humor and talkative nature bring movement to an episode. He reacts, trades stories, and keeps the exchange feeling like people talking to each other. That warmth matters when a guest is used to performing in costume but less comfortable speaking as themselves. Schizo gives them someone to respond to, laugh with, and build a conversation around.
Beyond the microphone
Making connections in the haunt community
Guest interaction and networking are part of what Schizo brings as co-creator and co-founder. The show grows through conversations with actors, owners, builders, and the people who recommend them. His interest in meeting people helps make those connections personal. A costume might catch his attention, but the performer’s experience—and the community around them—is what gives that connection somewhere to go.
Together at the microphone
Psycho can take a detail deeper; Schizo can keep the exchange approachable and bring another angle into it. He gives her someone who will answer back, follow a joke, and help the guest join in. Their different styles give Behind the Mask both momentum and room to pause, so a funny exchange can lead into a thoughtful answer without losing its warmth.
The backstory below follows Schizo’s fictional character in the Ravencroft world by J.M. Hale.
Talkative
A simple question can become an entire evening.
Affectionate
The teasing comes with a very real attachment.
Quick-tempered
Feeling misunderstood can turn a joke into an argument.
01
Before the mask
He brought a whole life with him.
Schizo arrived at Ravencroft in November 2023. A relationship in Tennessee had ended, legal trouble had caught up with him, and a relapse had interrupted the sobriety he had worked to maintain since 2020. By the time he entered the building, he was carrying far more than the story anyone could put in his file.
He knew what it meant to lose people. He knew what it meant to make mistakes and have those mistakes become the first thing others saw. None of that took away his humor. Sometimes humor was the only way he could get a conversation started without having to explain everything at once.
02
The man in the room
Quiet is not really his thing.
Once Schizo gets comfortable, he talks. Stories grow legs. A small detail turns into a detour. He teases, gets animated, and finds reasons to be ridiculous when the room needs to breathe. His goofy side is not an act he switches on for an audience. It is part of how he connects.
He is affectionate, too. He likes closeness, familiar jokes, and knowing where he stands with the people he cares about. Beneath the chatter is someone who wants to matter to another person without having to earn his place all over again every day.
03
Under his skin
Being heard matters.
Schizo has a temper. Confusion can frustrate him quickly, especially when he feels that people are talking around him instead of to him. Dismiss him, make a decision for him, or act as though he should already understand, and the warmth can give way to an argument.
That does not make every sharp response right, and his story leaves room for that. He can be stubborn and still admit he handled something badly. He can need reassurance without knowing how to ask for it. Understanding him means making room for the affectionate man and the difficult moments in the same conversation.
04
Schizo & Psycho
She could give it right back.
Psycho entered his life through his cousin. She was working at Ravencroft; he was already living inside it. She had a mouth on her, he had plenty to say, and neither was especially interested in pretending the other was easy to deal with.
Their nicknames started as a joke. The connection behind them became much more. She could keep up with him, challenge him, and laugh at the parts of him that had nothing to do with a record or a diagnosis. He could get past her bravado long enough to remind her she did not have to handle every hard thing alone.
05
Where his loyalty shows
Sometimes it is a photograph.
When Manic’s treasured family photograph is taken, Schizo makes sure it comes back. It is a small object with an enormous meaning. He understands that. Protecting someone does not always look dramatic; sometimes it means taking seriously the thing everybody else has dismissed.
His bond with Psycho carries him beyond Ravencroft’s doors. He leaves with her, with all his stories, his temper, and his capacity for affection still intact. Subject 002 is the number the institution gave him. The life he builds afterward depends on the people he chooses to keep close.
